It seems like almost every year on Christmas morning after the commotion and flurry of opening all the gifts, there is inevitably a gift or two left under the tree unopened. Sometimes it’s because they need to be taken to the next location, or maybe the person they’re meant for isn’t there yet.
Then there’s the story of the young girl who had picked out a very special gift that year for her daddy. She wrapped it with love, every ribbon and every bow. She placed it under the tree with all the other gifts that Christmas Eve, but this one was clearly special to her. She was more excited about giving that gift to her daddy than she was about opening her own gifts. When Christmas morning came, she grabbed the gift, took it straight to her daddy, and asked him to please open it first. He said he would, but he was also playing Santa and passing out gifts to all the other members of the family. While everyone was opening their gifts, she went back to him a few more times asking if he would open hers.
Eventually, things began to settle down and the attention of the parents began to turn to getting ready for the extended family gathering later that day. Suddenly, everyone was frantically getting ready. The young girl happened to look up from the toy she was playing with, only to see the special gift she had gotten her daddy was still underneath the tree, unopened. Her heart sank. It was her special gift to him and he didn’t open it. It meant so much to her to give it to him and watch him as he opened it. Yet somehow, there it was, unopened.
The world was given a very special gift many years ago. It was a gift that would change people’s lives and change the world. It was given to us in the form of a child, a baby. It was the greatest gift of all. A gift of love.
Don’t let it go unopened.

Your Mama raised you right.
I love it. What it says to me is also take the time to show the love of Christ to someone right now. Don’t wait. Redeem the time. Thank you Trent!
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20
We all have but one thing to do. Just like opening the door, we must choose to open the gift. It is there for our taking, but the choice is ours to make. Great reminder to us all.
Thanks for sharing. What a great message and reminder to us all.
