Opinion: City Commissioner Dianne Williams-Cox Shows the Heart of a Public Servant

At the close of the February 12th Tallahassee City Commission meeting, City Commissioner Dianne Williams-Cox shared some of her views about Tallahassee.

I have included a video of her comments below because I believe her words provide a rare glimpse into the sincere thoughts of an elected official. Seldom do we see politicians put down their guard and speak from the heart.

Now, many may disagree with the ideological leanings of Commissioner Williams-Cox, but if you can put aside partisan politics for a moment and listen to her words, it is clear she has the heart of public servant and a deep allegiance to Tallahassee.

In the short clip, you can hear her concern and hope for Tallahassee as she states “we do have issues and we do have opportunities to do better.” You can also hear her ask for help from the broader community.

For me, it was refreshing to hear Commissioner Williams-Cox speak about Tallahassee with words not scrubbed by a PR professional.

I was evicted out of my personal house. I've filed complaints on the judge Kathy Garner of Gadsden county. I've been homeless for a year and 2 months now. The judge had police officers to came and put me out of my home. March 5,2021 at 10am that Friday. I've been emailing, calling, writing and visiting Our Florida. They had filed missing persons reports on me. This has been a heart-ship for me getting clothes sleeping in my truck trying to stay safe from the virus. I have underlined conditions that prevents me from being out of my home of 26 years. The commissioner office there in Leon County is the one's that read my complaints on the judge. I've still been paying my bills in my home and I was eating out of the trash. Churches have been helping and I went to the meeting at the church in Quincy. I've called the news papers and the news stations cause the police won't help me. At this point I feel as if the system is broken!!! How could this happen to me they removed me out of my home like I was a criminal!! I'm disabled and I was a DCF worker for 26 years!! I've never been arrested and the judge Kathy Garner granted this to happen!! If I was a man this would've never happened! They're wondering why so much violence in Gadsden county? Take a look at how they're treating the residents of Gadsden County cause I don't bother anyone. I'm tired of struggling in these streets!!! Please respond ?back to this situation ??

SMH. Steve offered his opinion. It's not an article, Stanley. All one needs to do in any article is take the name out of it...the facts are facts unless it is an opinion, as this is labeled. In articles the details of the public record or facts tell the tale. If the reader turns into a racial issue to deflect from the content it is an indictment of the heart of the reader...not the reporter. The reporting in Tallahassee Reports is factual. Let the chips fall where they may.

At taxpayers' expense, she spearheaded the Burn & Loot Marxists mural on Gaines Street.
This Opinion is now very embarrassing to read.
The headline should say "...Shows the Heart of a Marxist"
