Amelia Haggins of Leon High Schoool, Mckinley Hill of North Florida Christian High School and Kaylin Johnson of Chiles High School have been named TR’s Leon County High School Volleyball Players of the Week for week four of the season, ending September 16th.
The awards are based on an analysis of statistics provided to MaxPreps – the official scores and statistics provider for the Florida High School Athletic Association.
Week One: Leon County High School Volleyball Players of the Week: Scott-Hanowell, Lozano, & Doughty
Week Two: Leon County High School Volleyball Players of the Week: Steward, Wenhold & Sutherland
Week Three: Leon County High School Volleyball Players of the Week: Johnson, Stewart, & Hultquist
Offensive Player of the Week
Amelia Haggins – a junior outside hitter for Leon – finished the week with 47 kills in 4 matches and a hitting percentage of 37.9% . Her hitting percentage during the week was above her season hitting average of 27.9%.
Haggins also added 16 blocks, averaging 1.2 bocks per set. The average blocks per set for a good blocker ranges from .50 to .75 blocks per set.
Defensive Player of the Week
Mckinley Hill – a senior libero for NFC – recorded 52 digs for the week in 3 matches, averaging 4.7 digs per set.
A dig is awarded when a defensive player successfully passes a ball that has been determined to be an attack attempt by the opponent.
In addition, Hill fielded 81 serves with 9 return errors for a 90.0% service return rate. The average service return percentage for a good team ranges between 85% and 90%.
Server of the Week
Kaylin Johnson – a junior outside hitter for Chiles – finished the week with 9 aces in 35 service attempts, a 25.7% ace percentage. The average ace percentage is in the range of 10%-13%.
Johnson also won 35 points on 39 serves, a 89.7% win rate. The average points won by a server is between 50%-75%.

The leading statistics analyzed for Defensive Player of the Week are digs, service returns, and service return errors.
The Server of the Week is based on serving percentage, aces and points scored on service attempts.
To qualify for Player of the Week, a players teams statistics from games that were completed during the week, Saturday-Friday, must be available on MaxPreps by the following Sunday at 6pm.
