The City of Tallahassee and Vet Events Tally seemed to reach an agreement after the City charged the nonprofit group with a $3,245.11 bill in order to put on the event. Because of the charge, the organization was on the verge of disbanding. Mayor John Dailey offered to use grant money that would’ve gone to the group in order to cover the cost of the charge. Vet Events Tally President Joe West said that his organization is glad they could come to an agreement.
FLORIDA NEWS
Former Florida Secretary of State and now Congresswoman Laurel Lee now has a post on the House Judiciary Committee and House Homeland Security Committee. Many are saying the Judiciary Committee is a good fit for Lee since she was appointed to Florida’s 13th Judicial Circuit as a circuit judge for Hillsborough County. The Chair of the Judiciary Committee is Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan who has launched an investigation into President Joe Biden over alleged mishandling of classified documents after his time as Vice President.
The Florida Legislature just unveiled a universal voucher bill that will expand Florida’s school choice options. The bill would allow parents of a K-12 public school-age child in Florida to receive a voucher to send their student to a private school next year. The bill is priority legislation for House Speaker Paul Renner and Florida’s Democrats are pushing back saying the bill erodes and attacks public schools.

TALLAHASSEE WEATHER
@ Sadhana… Feel better now? :-/
Let’s ban American history in High Schools to rewrite and paint the lies being circulated by this governor who apparently doesn’t know the difference between fact and lies.

ALSO: Kraft Nissan CEO stepped up and said that THEY will be happy to pay that “FEE” as long as needed. THANK YOU KRAFT BROTHERS.
Money laundering… the cover up is worse than the crime… different day same story…
Thank you David. Most of the little fees and charges billed by the City likely go into the General Fund. They may be coded for tracking and allocation to an associated department for budgeting purposes.
I just find it curious that the City was aware of a grant available to VET, then billed VET… then offered to use the grants funds to pay the City bill. I wonder if the grant parameters even allow for the use of the grant funds to pay this bill. If it is a City-provided grant – with our tax dollars of course – then it seems the City is just paying itself by washing the money through a fee-for-service accounting process Money laundering comes to mind.
@ Edward Lyle:
Question #1 = YES.
Question #2 = I believe it was $5,000.
Question #3 = YES
The Question that I have is:
What does the City do with all the Money they received from Billing these Organization’s?
Regarding “The City of Tallahassee and Vet Events Tally” brief. So, if I have this right, and I think that I do…
The City is in possession of “grant” money earmarked for Vet Events Tally to be used at VET’s discretion I presume… and just by coincidence, The City billed VET $3,245.11 in order to put on their event. And then the City offers to use VET’s “grant” money to cover the City’s bill?
There’s a word for this… let me think on that a bit…
In the meantime…
1. Was The City aware of the grant money BEFORE it billed VET?
2. What is the total amount of the grant?
3. Will there be any grant money left after the bill is paid, and where is it?
I’m puzzled, amused, and frustrated by a city government that will waste taxpayer dollars to paint large “BLACK LIVES MATTER” postings in the middle of the street but sends a $3,000+ bill to a veterans group to hold an event.
Hello, Tallahassee. Those veterans are the reason you’re free to perform such foolishness. How about a little more respect where it’s deserved!
The city spent 300k to spruce up the “Bus Stop” at Orange Avenue and Meridian Road…for the drug dealers and prostitutes!
They play Tonk, sell drugs and women all day long in broad daylight and no one seems to care one wit.
If you are a kid in Apalachee Ridge all you have to do is cross the street and you can have any drug you want, a prostitute, and a friendly game of craps. Of course, you’ll have to rob someone for the money first.
Ain’t Tallahassee Great?
In regards to the top brief – beginning around an hour after sunset each night on the S. Meridian St strip from Magnolia St south to Orange Av local law enforcement tolerates males and females standing on the corners selling drugs and sex. It is a hotspot where locals go to get “IT” on the Southside. Whatever your “IT” may be.
Now I dont know for sure if we had active law enforcement each night, beginning around sunset, on the “Southside Sex and Drugs Strip” if that adult male victim would be alive today. But there is my comment on that. For what its worth.
Thank you Law Enforcement for arresting and removing from our streets 24 criminals yesterday.
The DAILEY crime report, airport traffic down, mayor spends money for salary increases and a communications director, but sends veterans a bill for their parade. The mayor is blaming others… of course the mayor could blame the Secretary of Transportation, Buttigieg, for the downturn in air traffic.
