The Florida Department of Education has made the decision to pursue action against the professional educator certificate of Leon County School Superintendent Rocky Hanna. Education Commissioner Manny Diaz, Jr. – in a letter to Superintendent Rocky Hanna on April 4 – stated that there is probable cause to “justify sanctions against your Florida educator certificate.”
Closing arguments are beginning this morning in the federal trial of former Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum and co-defendant Sharon Lettman-Hicks. The defense rested its case yesterday, however it has not been announced when the jury will begin deliberations.
In a letter to Blueprint officials, the Killearn Homes Association (KHA) has voiced concerns about the possible addition of a road connecting Centerville Road to the Northeast Gateway/Welaunee Blvd. (NE Gateway) project.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is looking at launching an exploratory committee for president in mid-May, according to recent reports. An official presidential launch would take place soon after. NBC South Florida reported that national political vendors and operatives were in Tallahassee this week seeking work on DeSantis’ potential presidential campaign.
In their federal lawsuit with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Disney is accusing DeSantis of “weaponizing its power.” ““This government action was patently retaliatory, patently anti-business, and patently unconstitutional,” asserts Disney in the 77-page lawsuit filed in the Northern District of Florida. “But the Governor and his allies have made clear they do not care and will not stop.” The feud originated after Disney was pressured by their progressive employees to vocalize their opposition to Florida’s “Parental Rights in Education” bill, which DeSantis signed into law.

No. 4 Florida State softball travels to South Bend, IN to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a three-game series. It will be the Noles’ final road ACC series. The Seminoles have been dominant in the last month and are winners of 19 out of their last 21 games which includes nine wins over teams ranked inside the top 25. Each game can be viewed on the ACC Network and ACC Network Extra.
Florida State baseball is also traveling to take on Notre Dame. The Irish are 23-16 and tonight’s game will starts at 6:00 p.m. The Noles will be facing Irish pitcher Aidan Tyrell who sports a 7-1 record with a 2.76 ERA. All games can be heard on 100.7 WFLA. It will be Link Jarrett’s first series back in South Bend after taking the Irish to the College World Series last year.

None of that is true. It is true though that Matlow and Porter made a motion to not raise taxes and if failed 2-3. They also opposed the CSC property tax which has become a total joke, like they said it would.
PBA is causing the tax increase, their snacks and “goodies” are the biggest reason cited. TPD should be consolidated under the sheriff imo. Less union graft, less corruption.
Any Republicans interested in running against Curtis? Now that he has voted for more taxes he’s more vulnerable than he was when Bill Schack took him to a runoff in 2020.
@ NENotSoMuch… the proposed tax increase is a classic move instituted by many local elected establishment types. They say they need $7-mil and must raise property taxes, knowing full well that the current and planned development will result in a considerably higher amount of revenue flowing into the general fund when all is said and done (aka: built). Then they simply allocate the promised $7-mil and party-on with the overage. Imagine the kind of meeting “snacks” they’ll get to buy now.
The two alt-left progressive Marxicrats are only balking at the proposal because they know it has the votes to pass anyway. They want to appear fiscally conservative and caring to the malleable minded… but make no mistake about it, they are both fully aware of the pending overage windfall of our tax dollars, and are making out their wish list of reckless social spending as we speak.

Matlow and Porter are right yet again on not raising taxes, and not wasting $80+ million on the “Northeast Gateway.” The whole project is a scam giveaway to the Ghazvinis who funnel their profits into elections via “Grow Tallahassee.” PBA cop union (who are supporting property tax increase) + big developers = Reese Goad Chambercrat coalition. Matlow wanted to “no-build” the Gateway which we should have. Welaunee will be a hugely expensive boondoggle for many years that adds traffic congestion in NE.
Beware D.R. Horton (google it) as well, they are sponsoring Chamber events they’re getting in on the graft to build cheap cookie cutter houses.
@Nicholas — I laugh (and cry) every time someone brings “teacher shortage” into the discussion. The left manipulated the voting public to endorse the Class Size Amendment, increasing the need for more teachers (as well as increasing the actual number) and soaking the taxpayers when pay raises for teachers were approved. Those same teachers took a year off at taxpayer expense due to false fears over COVID, crippling the education of children in public schools, and their union actually sued religious schools that didn’t close. And now they’re on the “teacher pay” band wagon again because it plays well in Peoria.
But don’t worry — I’m sure that the teacher’s union will just funnel their windfall back into the Democrat election machine.

You should worry about the problems on your own side of the aisle. Treason, National Security, economy, misusing office for personal gain, treason treason treason, the Border, dereliction of duty, incompetence and here is the latest that a member of your own party stepped up who is the son of a former US Attorney General, nephew of a president, a member of one of the most well-known political families on the planet stepped up to run against Biden. The Democrats at that moment lost the presidential election for 2024. If Biden is even able to secure his party’s nomination it is over for being able to win the general. Take that and walk off a short dock and take a flying flip for a cold dip to wake you into some reality.

Also, Marco Rubio and Kevin McCarthy are both urging Ronny to stop his fight with Disney (google it, it’s true) because they both understand that big donors fuel the GOP campaign baskets, and at the end of the day, corporations don’t like the idea that if they don’t sing the praises of every smooth brained burp of legislation that they can be targeted by the government aparatus.
