Tallahassee saw two violent crimes yesterday afternoon in the area of Old Bainbridge Road and Fred George Road. The first incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. after TPD responded to an axe attack. One man was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Around 5:30 p.m., a shooting occurred near a wooded area and found a man with life-threatening injuries. The man was also transported to a hospital for treatment.
A woman who was shot outside of a store on Lake Bradford road on Wednesday might be paralyzed, according to recently released documents. Court documents say the woman was shot in the arm as she sat in a car nearby. The bullet then pierced her chest, court records say, and “stopped near her spinal cord, causing her to be paralyzed.” The shooting was captured on store surveillance video.

An abortion referendum attempting to get on Florida’s general election ballot as a constitutional amendment has collected 600,000 signatures. So far, just shy of 150,000 signatures have been verified, which means the vast majority of signature still have to be verified by Feb. 1, 2024. If the question is approved, the amendment would nullify the six-week ban on abortion the Legislature passed this year, as well as the 15-week ban passed the year before.
Florida tourism numbers in Q2 dipped slightly from last year. Florida drew an estimated 33.092 million visitors during the quarter. However, Florida did see an increase in international visitors so far this year.

It looks as though a homeless encampment is located on either side of Fred George Road between North Monroe and Old Bainbridge Road.
@David, Yes, and presumably all other current restrictions such as parental consent for minors and any waiting periods.
According to the article, Floridians Protecting Freedom is leading the initiative. Notice their misleading name. Their goal is to protect abortion access not freedom. I find the wording of the referendum, as reported, to be misleading as well. If they get the needed verified signatures, the wording should be challenged in court.
Reportedly, the referendum states “no law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient’s health, as determined by the patient’s health care provider.”
I read that as, the patient’s health could refer to physical health, emotional health, mental health, spiritual health. The patient’s health care provider could be Planned Parenthood, a psychologist, a spiritual advisor, anyone who is providing the woman some kind of health care. There is also no mention of parental rights. So, I read it as a license for abortion on demand up to birth and regardless of the mother’s age.
Everyone, who desires to live in a civilized society, should decline to sign the petition if asked and, if it gets on the ballot, should vote against it.
Are you saying that if passed, it will nullify BOTH the 6 and the 15 Week Ban on Abortions? That is messed up.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A toddler was abducted Thursday morning during a car theft, according to Tallahassee Police.
The suspected car thief and kidnapper is now in custody, according to police. Diamond Thompson, 20, is charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, kidnapping and fleeing with disregard for others’ safety, according to a statement from TPD. She was booked into the Leon County Jail.
