A TPD officer was hospitalized Monday morning around 2:30 a.m. after responded to an armed burglary call in the 2300 block of Sandpiper Street. During the investigation, it was determined that responding officers interrupted a targeted drug-related home invasion robber. The suspect took off running, and another suspect appeared and began firing at law enforcement. Three suspects have been involved but no arrests have been made. The officer is stable but in critical condition.
On Tuesday, the Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency will hold its second and final budget hearing for the new fiscal year, which starts October 1st.

On Monday, September 25th around 1:00 a.m., the Leon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the 4600 block of Cypress Point Road in reference to a home invasion. When deputies arrived, they found a 25-year-old male, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries. At this time, there is no update on his condition.
A 25-year-old Tallahassee man was killed in a hit-and-run crash Friday evening while riding his bicycle on Wacissa Springs Road. The bicyclist was flown to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital where he later died. The driver of the pickup truck who struck the bicyclist fled the scene but was later found.

Florida leads the nation in removing violent and pornographic books from school libraries. During the 2023 Legislative Session, Florida lawmakers sought to reform the process by requiring districts to pull any book that has been challenged due to concerns that a book has sexually explicit content.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said he is ready to “unleash the states” as “equal partners” in enforcing immigration and border security. “If someone comes across the river illegally into Texas, Texas should be able to send them back. Why do we need to end up in this big process where people are going to court and all this other stuff? It’s absurd. So they should be able to do it,” DeSantis said.
Florida Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson announced that Florida’s timber industry suffered nearly $65 million in damages in the wake of Hurricane Idalia. Other estimates show that the agriculture industry in total may have suffered up to $371 million in damage. Individual claims have surpassed the $200 million mark.

FAMU Developmental Research School announced their head coach Alex Williams has resigned. The Baby Rattlers are 1-4 to start their season. An interim coach will be appointed this week.
Florida State sophomore Lottie Woad finished in a tie for third in the individual standings, and the No. 10 ranked Seminole Women’s Golf team finished in fifth place in the team standings as play in the 10th Schooner Fall Invitational at the Belmar Golf Club came to a close.
