Powell Kreis, the Programming Director and Festival Manager of LeMoyne Arts recently appeared on the Greg Tish Show on RealTalk 93.3 FM to discuss LeMoyne’s upcoming events.
LeMoyne Arts is a non-profit fine arts gallery located downtown, and is currently celebrating its 60th anniversary. Kreis noted to kick off this year’s holiday show, LeMoyne Arts is hosting a Garden Galleria on November 18th which holds around 30 artist tents. She noted the show will offer mimosas in the morning for their members and include three food trucks and live entertainment all day.
The Garden Galleria will also include Tallahassee’s retired art teachers who will have stations set up for children. Because LeMoyne Arts is celebrating its 60th anniversary, the holiday show is themed “A Diamond Jubilee”. Additionally, LeMoyne will celebrate the holidays from November 18th to December 24th.
Kreis explained that On October 19, LeMoyne will hold their Silent Auction Art & Soul Celebration, which is one of their biggest fundraisers of the year. This event will include live music, cocktails, food and more. Additionally, Kreis noted that this year LeMoyne Arts is asking artists to create Tallahassee themed artwork for submission. The chosen artwork will be printed on a beer can and launched at the Chain of Parks Arts Festival in April.
When asked about the Artist Talk: Round Table Discussion LeMoyne Arts is hosting on October 12, Kreis explained the event offers those who join a deeper look into the women who created the Women Among Us: Portraits of Strength. The women will talk about the origin and meaning of their projects and discuss their creative process. The event will also offer drinks and live music.
