A grand jury indicted Donna Adelson Wednesday for her former son-in-law Dan Markel’s murder. Adelson is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and solicitation to commit first-degree murder. She is accused of planning the killing of Markel, who was fatally shot in his Betton Hills garage in 2014. Her arrest came exactly one week after a jury found her son, Charlie Adelson, guilty of the same three charges in Markel’s murder.

Florida State Women’s Basketball sophomore guard Ta’Niya has been named to the 2023-24 Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 List, announced on Tuesday. The list is comprised of 50 student-athletes who are the early front-runners for the most prestigious honors in college basketball, the Wooden Award All American Team™ and Most Outstanding Player Award.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis blasts Nikki Haley for wanting to forcibly remove anonymous social media users. DeSantis responded by noting that John Jay, James Madison, and Alexander Hamilton were all initially anonymous when they wrote variants essays in the Federalist Papers.
Florida Department of Corrections Secretary Ricky Dixon is high on salary increases and morale boosts are paying off within the department. Correctional officer vacancies are bordering on pre-COVID levels, he said, due in large part to “historic” increases to officer salaries and $5,000 hiring and retention bonuses for guards in hard-to-fill locations.
Gov. Ron DeSantis and United Kingdom (UK) Secretary of State for Business and Trade Kemi Badenoch signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Tuesday to strengthen business and academic ties between Florida and the UK. British companies are responsible for more than 70,000 jobs in Florida, holding assets worth around $80 billion in the state.
