TPD has been investigating a suspicious death that took place around 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the 2800 block of Apalachee Parkway at the Casa Bella Inn. Law enforcement found a juvenile male dead. This is an active and open investigation and anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to call 850-891-4200.
TPD has been investigating another Sunday morning incident. This time is occurred in the 4000 block of Jackson Bluff Road around 7:15 a.m. when a woman was found not breathing. She eventually died. TPD said it is an isolated incident with no threat to public safety.

The Rickards Raiders hosted the Ribault Trojans (Jacksonville) on Saturday afternoon and won 47-33 in a battle of top ranked high school girls basketball teams. Get the details.
On Sunday afternoon, Indiana athlete transfer Jaylin Lucas announced that he was pledging to the Seminoles as he concluded his trip to campus. He’ll be joining his brother, Ja’Khi Douglas on Novell’s team. He is expected to impact FSU’s offense as a slot receiver and out of the backfield.
Similarly, Colorado State defensive tackle transfer Grady Kelly announced that he was committing to FSU at the conclusion of his visit. The Noles are looking to bolster a defensive line that is losing Fabien Lovett, Braden Fiske, Malcolm Ray, and Ayobami Tifase. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Florida State Rep. Erin Grall has filed legislation that would add video cameras to public school classrooms and certain charter school “self-contained” classrooms. The bill defines a self-contained classroom as a classroom at a public or charter school that “has at least one student in regular attendance that is nonverbal and receives special educational services.” The video camera must also be capable of recording audio from all areas of the room.
Florida received approval from the FDA for its Canadian Prescription Drug Importation Program on Friday. This is the first step toward Florida facilitating importation of certain prescription drugs from Canada, and the governor’s office said that the proposal will save Florida up to $180 million in the first year.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said he would not accept an invitation “under any circumstances” from Nikki Haley to be her running mate if she won the Republican nomination. “I would much rather do my final two years as governor, 2025 and 26, than be vice president,” DeSantis said.

Federal aviation officials ordered the grounding of a popular model of Boeing’s 737 MAX jets over the weekend, following a harrowing incident on a Friday Alaska Airlines flight during which a chunk of the plane’s fuselage blew off midascent. No one was injured during the incident, though depressurization reportedly ripped a child’s shirt off. See video here.
Congressional leaders reached an agreement on spending levels for the 2024 fiscal year, striking a roughly $1.7T deal ahead of looming deadlines to fund separate parts of the federal government.
