Leon County Jobs, Workforce, Down in November

The latest reports show that Leon County lost 1,387 jobs in November when compared to last month. There were 162,480 people working in Leon County in November compared to last month’s revised employment number of 163,867.

Despite the loss of jobs, the unemployment rate came in at 3.2%, down from the 3.3% reported last month as the number of people in the work force fell from 169,543 in October to 167,771 in November.

One year ago, the November 2022 unemployment rate was 2.7%.

The Leon County Jobs Report, provided below, shows the number of people working in November 2023 was 5,162 more than in November 2022. The November labor force – those looking for jobs – came in at 167,771, which was 6,048 more than the number reported in November 2022.

The chart below shows the monthly level of jobs in Leon County over the last 37 months with a 12-month average trend line. The highlighted numbers relate to employment levels for the month of November back to 2020.

    How can chart show negative numbers when yearly employment numbers show increases yearly??
