The City of Tallahassee issued a press release this evening related to a shooting incident that occurred earlier in the day. The release is provided below:
Today, just after 12:30 p.m., an officer with the Tallahassee Police Department was dispatched to a report of a domestic disturbance at the Greens at Old St. Augustine Apartments, located at 2001 Old Saint Augustine Road.
Upon arrival, the first responding officer observed a male subject, later identified as 17-year-old Joshua Tyler, moving between parked cars. Without warning, Tyler emerged from the vehicles and fired multiple rounds at the officer. Thankfully, the officer was uninjured in the shooting.
Tyler fled the scene on foot, prompting an immediate and extensive response to locate and apprehend him. Despite how quickly the scene unfolded, the officer was able to provide a suspect description, including the last thing Tyler was seen wearing. Multiple responding units and partner law enforcement agencies assisted with the search. Within three hours of the shooting, officers located Tyler at the Whispering Pines Apartments, located at 2731 Blairstone Road. The neighboring complex is less than 1000 feet from where the incident occurred.
Arrested: Joshua Tyler, 17, for attempted homicide, possession of a firearm by a delinquent, and aggravated assault. Additional charges could be forthcoming.
The press release also noted that this “incident highlights the challenges officers face daily in ensuring public safety. The swift arrest of Joshua Tyler serves as a testament to multiple law enforcement agencies working quickly and collaboratively to apprehend a violent offender and keep the public safe, despite the challenges they face.”

Recognizing the corruption and failed administration of Curtis, Dailey, and Dianne William-Cox would be a start…
Thank God the LEO(s) involved weren’t harmed. And kudos to them for apprehending the criminal. I’m sure the two progressive Marxists on the City Commission we’re disappointed. If you believe the Marxists and their Media PACs, it was just the gun floating around and shoot’n up the place.
As always; You will never solve a problem you refuse to recognize.
Two seldom discussed statistics, that officers know and understand is A) that in some U.S. cities a black male is 18 times more likely to shoot an officer than the officer is to shoot an unarmed black male; and B) that officer is 12 times more likely to be shot by a black male than a white male.
The officer MUST know this and react accordingly for his own safety and survival.
Now, in Tallahassee, I have to carry in my own front yard.
There was a helicopter hovering over Indian Head acres for two hours, then I saw a Leon County Sheriffs deputy in an suv parked in front of my house. When I walked out there to ask him what the heck was going on he looked at me and then crept slowly down the street without saying a word.
I’m thinkin’ the deputy should have told me a fugitive on foot with a gun was being pursued and could be in the neighborhood.
I’m not real happy about that Walter, just sayin’…
This is the second shooting in a week at that apartment complex!
