On January 23, a number of teachers attended the Leon County School Board (LCSB) meeting demanding fair compensation and noting that their salaries were not keeping up with the cost of living. Get the details.

After dropping below $3 a gallon in mid-January, average gas prices in Tallahassee increased 12 cents per gallon or 4% over the last two weeks per data reported by GasBuddy.com.

The Leon County Sheriff’s Office is looking into two deaths inside a home on the 1300 block of Gateshead Circle on Friday. Investigators quickly ruled out any threat to the public at the time, and are still determining the context of the incident.

 At least half a dozen Tallahassee Police officers flooded the 500 block of Castlewood Drive after a shooting left a woman injured, according to a watch commander. Officers found the woman with gunshot wounds at about 8:30 p.m. Friday. She was sitting in a car, which was stopped near South Meridian Street in the area of Castlewood Drive and Laura Lee Avenue, according to the watch commander. The shooting took place in the street, according to TPD.

Florida A&M University announced Saturday afternoon that James Colzie III will succeed Willie Simmons as the program’s 19th Head Coach. “I am eternally grateful to President Robinson and our Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tiffani-Dawn Sykes for their confidence in me,” said Colzie in a statement.

  1. Teachers demanding more money because their salaries aren’t keeping up with the cost of living… This, while their students reading skills aren’t keeping up with their grade levels,

    Note to teachers; timing is everything.

I would like to see EVERY Elected US Official in DC have ALL of their Funds Frozen, EVERYTHING, Credit Cards, Checking & Savings accounts, Investments, etc., so they can’t get any extra Money because I want THEM to live off of just $2,500 a Month for 6 Months so THEY know what most People are dealing with. PLUS, they have to drive an old Beater with 200K Miles or take the Bus.
