A parent was arrested outside of Godby High School in Tallahassee on Monday, according to the Leon County Sheriff’s Office. LCSO wrote in a press release that after a student “mistakenly” walked in front of Thomas Ivester’s car near the school drop-off area, the 34-year-old allegedly got into a heated argument with the student.
TPD arrested a 17-year-old in connection to a shooting that took place on Peachtree Drive on Monday. According to TPD, the teen was holding a gun and inadvertently shot a man sitting nearby. Officials said the teen suspect ran from the scene shortly after the incident, and Cooper’s body was found by officers “moments later.”

A persistently contentious debate about regulating vacation rentals has escalated into a clash between two powerful industry groups after the Florida Legislature passed a measure that would significantly restrict how local governments can oversee the properties.
The state of Florida saw an increase in tax revenue generated by Airbnb hosts last year, accruing more than $387 million in tax revenue, according to data released by the rental platform. The figure illustrates a 25.6 percent uptick in comparison to 2021 when Airbnb reported $308 million in tax revenue generated. For the third consecutive year, Florida was the top beneficiary of the platform’s tax revenue.
Despite attempts by the Legislature to reduce lawsuits and their related costs for property insurers, the state-run Citizens Property Insurance Corp. faces a potential $200 million shortfall in litigation expenses.

A major bridge spanning Baltimore’s harbor collapsed early Tuesday after a large shipping container lost power and struck one of its support pillars. Two people were rescued from the water, while six are presumed dead. All eight people were part of a construction crew working on the bridge at the time of the incident.
Shares of Trump Media and Technology Group, the owner of former President Donald Trump’s Truth Social platform, climbed as much as 59% after the opening bell yesterday in its first day on the Nasdaq Composite Index. Trump Media’s stock—trading under the ticker DJT for Trump’s initials—rose as high as $77 per share before settling and closing up 16% at around $58 per share, valuing the company at nearly $8B.

Isn’t litigation expenses mostly due because the Insurer refuses to pay a Claim that they really SHOULD have Paid? I had to Sue my Insurance Company for that very reason and I WON.
