Leon County Schools announced that Godby High School will reopen Monday following massive flooding after last week’s storm.
On Thursday, April 11th, Michelle Gayle, Ph.D., Deputy Superintendent, Leon County Schools (LCS) sent an email to elected officials to provide details related to the new LCS logo and marketing campaign.
On April 10, 2024, the Tallahassee City Commission voted unanimously to introduce a new ordinance regarding school speed zone enforcement and scheduled its first public hearing for April 24, 2024.
One person has died after a crash in Crawfordville, Saturday evening. Florida Highway Patrol reported that a truck and motorcycle were involved in the accident. The crash happened around 6pm along Spring Creek Highway.

No. 10-ranked Florida State baseball completed a weekend sweep of Miami with a 6-4 win Saturday afternoon at Dick Howser Stadium. The victory capped a 4-0 week against in-state rivals after beating Florida Tuesday night and winning the first two games against the Hurricanes. The Noles are no 30-5 going into a Tuesday night game against Mercer tomorrow.
The No. 4 Florida State beach volleyball team finished the Center of Effort Tournament in San Luis Obispo, California, on Saturday, and will enter the postseason with a 27-7 overall record. The Seminoles will next travel to Huntsville, Alabama, for the CCSA tournament on April 26-27.

Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson issued an emergency rule on Friday to impose certain restrictions on the state’s cattle importation. The decision came after the U.S. Department of Agriculture confirmed more cases of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in cattle across eight states.
Gov. Ron DeSantis signed laws banning civilian review boards for officer complaints and protecting first responders from harassment and impedance on Friday. Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Mark Glass noted how the legislation that the governor was signing would significantly help law enforcement, as well as continue the message that Florida is a “common sense state.”
Republican Rep. Spencer Roach announced on Friday that he will not seek reelection to the Florida House of Representatives. In his current term, Roach, a judge advocate by trade, has served as Chair of the Constitutional Rights, Rule of Law & Government Operations Subcommittee. He has he has no aspirations of higher office.

Iran launched an estimated 300 missiles and armed drones at Israel in its first direct strike against Israel from Iranian territory. Israel, the UK, the US, and France intercepted 99% of the projectiles, with Jordan intercepting missiles over its airspace. Five projectiles landed within Israel’s borders, with one wounding a 7-year-old girl.
A trial against former President Donald Trump begins today in Manhattan, with prosecutors accusing him of falsifying business records in the course of allegedly paying hush money to former adult film star Stephanie Clifford, also known as Stormy Daniels, and one other woman. Trump has denied the allegations since they first surfaced in 2018.
World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler defeated Collin Morikawa to win yesterday’s 2024 Masters Tournament. The win at Augusta National marks Scheffler’s second Masters title, earning him a $3.6M prize.
