TPD Provides Update on Three Recent Violent Crime Incidents

On Monday, the Tallahassee Police Department provided an update on three violent crime incidents.

2024-79447 / Stabbing / 1500 block of Pepper Dr / 9:50 PM / May 11

Officers responded to the 1500 block of Pepper Drive for reports of a stabbing. Arriving officers located an adult male suffering from serious injuries and immediately began rendering aid. The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Preliminary findings indicate the stabbing occurred following a physical altercation inside the residence and this appears to be an isolated incident. A suspect has been identified, however, no arrests have been made at this time. This remains an open and active investigation and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

24-079592 / Shooting / 700 block of Westcott Drive / 2:33 AM / May 12

Officers responded to the 700 block of Westcott Drive for reports of an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Preliminary findings indicate the victim was driving in the area of Tharpe Street and Monticello Drive when gunshots were fired. The victim drove to a home in the 700 block of Westcott Drive where he was met by first responders. At this time, the investigation remains open and active and detectives are working to determine the circumstances of the incident.

UPDATE (MAY 12 DOUBLE HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION): TPD’s Violent Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and identified a crime scene that spanned across multiple businesses, all of which were without power due to the recent storm. In addition to the fatalities, an adult male and an adult female sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the shooting.

It is unclear at this time whether any of the victims were the intended targets. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under investigation, but preliminary findings suggest that a large group was gathered in the parking lot just before the incident.

TPD is urging anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward. Your assistance is crucial in bringing justice to the victims and closure to their families. ORIGINAL RELEASE: The Tallahassee Police Department is currently conducting a double homicide investigation that occurred outside Zingales Billiards and Sports Bar, located at 1147 Apalachee Parkway. At approximately 2:23am, a call was received reference shots fired. Officers arrived on scene and located multiple victims with gunshot wounds. Sadly, two adult males were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other adult victims were transported to a local hospital with gunshot wounds, however their condition is unknown.

TPD’s Violent Crimes Unit and Forensics Unit have been notified and are en route to the scene. This remains an open and active investigation and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
