Leon County Highlights TEAM Microgrant Recipient

Leon County Government will recognize and celebrate local Italian restaurant Bagigio’s, one of the first recipients supported through the Targeted Emergency Assistance Microgrants (TEAM) Leon Business Assistance Program. Bagigio’s will receive $5,000 in direct financial assistance through the TEAM Leon program.

TEAM Leon provides financial assistance to households and businesses located in unincorporated Leon County (outside the City of Tallahassee limit) affected by the May 10, 2024, tornadoes.

The TEAM Leon program continues to process and distribute up to $1 million from the County’s Catastrophe Fund to assist households and businesses in the hardest hit areas of unincorporated Leon County as the community continues to recover.

Launched on Thursday, May 23, Leon County Government’s TEAM Leon program received more than 1,200 applications within the first 24 hours of opening.

  1. Article on WTXL says she doesn’t know where to spend the funds, but wants to buy a GENERATOR! None of the news outlets say what physical damage the business incurred. Driving by every day, there doesn’t appear to be any. Not even tree debris.

Someone needs to take the lead in overseeing what this money is actually funding, more than a feel-good for the County and a photo op for Commissioners. What are the qualifications for receiving these funds? What damages and damage thresholds qualify? Is this just for politically connected people?
