The medical-cannabis company Trulieve has contributed another $5 million to a campaign to allow recreational marijuana in Florida, according to a newly filed finance report.
The company made the contribution July 15 to the Smart & Safe Florida political committee, which is leading efforts to pass a recreational-marijuana initiative on the November ballot. In all, Trulieve had contributed about $60.39 million to the committee as of July 19, according to a state Division of Elections database. The committee had raised a total of $66.475 million in cash and nearly $129,000 in in-kind contributions. It had spent $53.963 million.
The initiative, which will appear on the ballot as Amendment 3, says, in part, that it would allow “adults 21 years or older to possess, purchase, or use marijuana products and marijuana accessories for non-medical personal consumption by smoking, ingestion, or otherwise.” Voters in 2016 passed a constitutional amendment that allowed medical marijuana.

Edward Lyle: rehabilitation services are needed for alcoholics as well as drug addicts. Alcohol is legal, marijuana should be too. Same disease, different substance. And I don’t work for a drug company and I’m not a substance abuse counselor.
Vote no, I’ve been smokin’ reefer for decades, it’s the only thing that makes me feel like an outlaw anymore. If they make it legal, I’ll just be another law abiding shlub… If you can’t grow a little reefer behind the governments back without getting caught, you probably shouldn’t be smoking reefer to begin with.

After 60 years, I still see marijuna as an Entry Drug to harder drugs. Those using it will never vote NO unless they have experienced the pain associated with drug use. One only need go to Denver and see how the city has drastically and negatively changed. Very sad indeed. Relationships are destroyed, businesses hurt by adicted emoloyees, and others hurt, killed and lives shattered- vote NO!
Let’s provide more residential care for those wanting to change, instead!

I will be Voting NO. I believe that passing this Bill will just lead to people wanting to legalize Harder Drugs.
I would like to see it Decriminalized for the End User if they are caught with a small amount for personal use BUT they should be made to destroy it in front of the Officer unless they are found to be under the influence, then the Officer must follow the Law and arrest the person. Sellers and Traffickers should get mandatory time in Prison.
I will vote for legal pot every time. It’s use is pretty much everywhere already and I don’t think we should waste valuable resources on locking up people for smoking a joint now and then. Compared to alcohol, it may or may not be as physically harmful but will bring a lot of revenue into the state. That revenue could be earmarked for rehabilitation for those who want it. The smoke won’t be a problem as the law would prohibit smoking it in public.
Decriminalization and medical = Yes
Full-blown legalization = NO
Both Trulieve and the ambulance chasers like Morgan stand to rake in big bucks. Trulieve from sales and Morgan and his ilk from lawsuits. The supporters and Media PACs hide the downside to full-blown legalization. Yes, tax revenue increases… but so do crashes, pedestrian deaths, and crime. Societal maturation declines, cultural norms decrease, and workforce abilities and preparedness falls. Never forget…

SO, Trulieve donated $65,000,000 out of the $66,000,000 that the Smart & Safe Florida political committee has. I am wondering, is that $65,000,000 deductible on Trulieve’s Taxes? I believe that passing the Recreational-Marijuana Initiative will just lead to people wanting stronger Drug Initiatives passed.

It’s hypocritical of me to say, but legalizing weed will not make the State a better place. People are already smoking weed publicly and prison parolees get medical cards so they can smoke, too. I’ll be voting NO
