The report shows that there were 368 July single-family sales in the Tallahassee MSA, up 8.2% when compared to last year. The median sales price was $335,000, down 2.9% from July 2023.

A 14-year-old shooter killed four people—two students and two teachers—and wounded at least nine others at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, yesterday, roughly 50 miles northeast of Atlanta. The attack is the deadliest school shooting in Georgia’s history.

President Joe Biden is preparing to block Japanese-based Nippon Steel’s $14.9B purchase of US Steel, according to reports yesterday. US Steel shares closed down 17.5% on the news. 

US stock markets close mixed (S&P 500 -0.2%, Dow +0.1%, Nasdaq -0.3%) as US job openings fell to 7.67 million in July, the lowest level since January 2021 (More).

  1. In a Wall Street Journal story, US Steel said they will layoff 11,000 employees and close down PA mills if the deal is scuttled.

    But hey, Biden has said numerous times that he “has the back of steelworkers.”

    (Don’t think that includes their mortgage payments and grocery bills though.)
