Leon County Voter Registration Deadline is October 7

Mark S. Earley, Supervisor of Elections for Leon County, is reminding voters that Monday, October 7 is the last day to register to vote in time for the November 5 General Election.

“I encourage all eligible but unregistered Leon County residents to register to vote now,” said Supervisor Earley. “If you are not registered to vote in Florida by October 7, you cannot cast a ballot in the General Election. Take action today and get registered, so you can use your voice in this important election. Voters have several voter registration options, and my office will stay open late on October 7 to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to register. And if you are already registered, take a few minutes to make sure your information is up to date. That way, you will be Election Ready for the November 5 General Election.”

In order to register to vote in Florda, residents must meet these requirements be an American citizen, a Florida resident, at least 18 years old (16 or 17 year olds may pre-register).

A person loses the right to vote if they are adjudicated mentally incapacitated with respect to voting by a court and convicted of a felony. However, in most circumstances, the right to vote is restored upon completion of all sentencing terms.

Eligible residents may register to vote using any of these methods:

• Online at RegistertoVoteFlorida.gov. The application must be complete by 11:59 p.m. on October 7.
• Mail a voter registration form to PO Box 7357, Tallahassee, FL 32314-7357. The letter must be postmarked by October 7.
• Visit the Leon County Supervisor of Elections Office at 2990-1 Apalachee Parkway. The Elections Office will be open 8:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. on October 7.

In the General Election, all voters can cast a ballot as long as they are registered to vote in Florida by the October 7 voter registration deadline. Voters who are already registered in Florida but who need to update their address can do so at any time, including Election Day. However, they are encouraged to update their record as soon as possible.

Voters can view their current voter registration information by going to LeonVotes.gov and clicking on the “Your Voter Info” button. Voters can also use the site to view sample ballots for the General Election.
