According to filings with Leon County and the City of Tallahassee, the number of single-family new construction permits were down 9.2% in January 2025 when compared to January 2024.
There were 59 permits issued in January 2025, down six from the 65 permits issued one year ago. There were 29 permits issued last month.
The value of the January 2025 permits was $15.2 million, down 17.8% from the $18.5 million reported in January 2024.
The 3-Mnth Avg. data (Nov.-Jan.) – which smooths out the month-to-month volatility – shows a 21.4% decrease in the number of permits issued over the same 3-month period one year ago.
The 3-Mnth Avg. data show a 18.5% decrease in monthly average permit value during this period. The 3-month average permit values fell from $13.5 million in January 2024 to $11.0 million in January 2025.
