Today at noon at Capital City Country Club, the NEBA May luncheon will feature Sal Nuzzo, executive director of Consumers Defense – a national, non-profit policy and advocacy organization. Sal will discuss significant new legislation and the new state budget OR update us on its current status (which remains unknown at the time of this notice).
Two people were injured but expected to survive following an early morning shooting at Cascades Park on Memorial Day, according to Tallahassee Police. The incident unfolded just before 4:15 a.m. when officers responded to the area of Cascades Park in the 1000 block of South Gadsden Street about a shooting. No arrests have been made.

The Florida State baseball team has been named the No. 9 national seed in the 2025 NCAA Baseball Championship and will host the Tallahassee Regional. Florida State is set to host the No. 2 seed Mississippi State Bulldogs, No. 3 seed Northeastern Huskies, and No. 4 seed Northeastern Huskies at Dick Howser Stadium.

The Legislature formally sent bills to Gov. Ron DeSantis that would prevent elementary and middle school students from using cell phones during the entire school day and create a new third-degree felony offense of animal cruelty for people who restrain dogs outside during natural disasters.

At least 12 people were killed and several others wounded following a massive Russian drone and missile strike on Ukrainian cities Sunday. The barrage—which included more than 350 explosive drones and nine cruise missiles—was the largest to date in the three-year war.
