On Oct. 27th and Oct. 28th, six different district golf tournaments took place involving nine Leon County schools. As a team, Maclay was the only Leon county school to win a district title as both their boys and girls team brought 1A District 3 title’s back to Tallahassee. Individually, Florida High’s Hunter Glantz and Peyton Johnson both placed first winning the 1A District 3 individual titles for both boys and girls respectively.
1A District 3
On Oct. 28, four Leon County Schools competed in the FHSAA 1A District 3 boys and girls tournaments at Qual Height Country Club in Lake City, FL. Maclay brought two team titles back to Tallahassee as the Marauders placed first in both the boys and girls tournaments. Florida High also brought back two titles to Tallahassee with Golfers Hunter Glantz and Peyton Johnson winning first place individually with scores of 71 (E) and 70 (-1), respectively.
In the boys tournament, Maclay placed first as a team with a total score of 301 (+17), Florida High placed third as a team with a total score of 318 (+34), and JPII placed seventh placing 366 (+82). Other notable individual performances included Maclay’s Brody Mitchell (So.) who placed 2nd shooting a 73 (+2), Maclay’s Hayden Chaires (Sr.) who placed T3rd shooting a 75 (+3), and Maclay’s Cameron Kise (Fr.) who placed T6th shooting a 76 (+5).
On the girls side, Maclay placed first as a team with a total score of 344 (+60) followed by Florida High who placed second as a team with a total score of 352 (+68). Other notable individual performances from Leon County golfers included Maclay’s Mollie Sprague (So.) placing 3rd with a round of 82 (+11), Maclay’s Tessa Cooper (Jr.) placing 4th with a round of 83 (+12) and Maclay’s Addie Sprague (So.) placing fifth with a round of 85 (+15).
3A District 1
There were only two Leon County schools, Chiles and Leon, competing in the 3A District 1 tournaments which was held at Stonebrook Golf Club in Pace, FL.
For the boys tournament, Chiles placed fourth as a team with a total score of 318 (+30) while Leon placed seventh as a team with a total score of 348 (+60). The best Leon County individual performance included Chile’s Alex Parker, who shot a 71 (-1) through 18 but came up short in a playoff, placing second overall. Other notable performances included Chile’s Rhys Cochran (So.) placing T3rd shooting a 72 (E) and Leon’s Solomon Hardy (So.) placing T16th shooting an 82 (+10).
On the girls side, Chiles placed fourth as a team with a total score of 402 (+114). Notable performances included Chiles’ Beezy Wright (So.) who placed T5th shooting a 81 (+9), Leon’s Aubrey Galloway (So.) who placed 15th shooting a 94 (+22), and Chiles’ Kate Mathis (So.) placing T18th shooting a 97 (+25).
2A District 2
There were three Leon County Schools competing in the 2A District 1 tournament. These schools included Lincoln, Rickards, and Godby. The boys tournament was played at Wakulla Sands Golf Club in Crawfordville, FL while the girls tournament was played at Qual Heights Country Club in Lake City, FL. Lincoln and Rickards entered teams into the boys tournament while Godby entered an individual golfer. On the girls side, Rickards entered a team while Lincoln entered three individual golfers.
In the boys tournament, Lincoln placed third with a total score of 304 (+16) while Rickards placed placed seventh with a total score of 464 (+176). The best Leon County performance included Lincoln’s Chase Fleisher (Jr.) who shot a 72 (E) at the end of 18 and lost in a playoff to place second overall. Other notable performances included Lincoln’s Bryce Matthews (Sr.) who placed T3rd shooting a 73 (+1) and Lincoln’s William Young (Sr.) who placed T11th shooting a 78 (+6).
On the girls side, Rickards was the only Leon County school that entered as at team placing fourth with a total score of 564 (+280). Notable performances included Lincoln’s Renee Jamwal and Emily Bullough who placed 9th and 11th with scores of 112 (+41) and 115 (+45), respectively.
