Florida September Jobless Rate at 3.9 Percent

By The News Service of Florida

Florida had a 3.9 percent unemployment rate in September, the state said Thursday after a delay in releasing numbers because of this fall’s federal government shutdown. The numbers depend on information from the U.S. Department of Labor.

The Florida Department of Commerce will release October and November numbers on Jan. 7.

Thursday’s report estimated 433,000 Floridians were qualified as unemployed in September from a workforce of 11.195 million people. The September rate was up from 3.8 percent in August. The national unemployment rate for September was 4.4 percent, up from 4.3 percent in August.
