On March 3, Leon hosted Florida High in a beach volleyball match at Tom Brown Park in their first meeting of the season. The Seminoles entered the matchup with a 1-1 record, earning a 5-0 win over Community Christian and falling 5-0 to Chiles. Although Leon’s schedule has not yet been fully updated on MaxPreps, the team had competed in three matches prior to facing Florida High, including a 4-1 victory against Community Christian. In a very close match, Florida High beat Leon 3-2 advancing to 2-1.
Florida High opened the match strong, claiming the No. 2 position in straight sets, 21-17 and 21-18. They then took the No. 4 position in three sets, winning 21-8 before Leon responded 21-14, but Florida High secured the decisive third set 15-11 to take a 2-0 lead in the dual.
Although down 2-0 going into the second wave of matches, Leon got points on the board with their No. 5 position winning in straight sets with set scores of 21-15, 21-16. The Lions found another dual point at the No. 3 position winning in three sets with set scores of 21-10, 18-21, and 15-11.
As one of the deciding matches, Florida High’s No. 1 pair just edged out Leon in a close three set match in set scores of 21-16, 21-23 and 19-17.
Leons next match is an away game against Chiles on Mar. 9 and Florida High plays a home game against Sneads on Mar. 5.
