Chiles, Leon, Florida High and Lincoln competed in a varsity boys golf regular-season event Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Hilaman Golf Course in Tallahassee. The Timberwolves finished first in the team standings with a score of 157 (+13), followed by Leon at 161 (+17), Florida High at 169 (+25) and Lincoln at 190 (+46).
Chase Fleischer delivered the top individual performance of the event, carding a 35 (-1). The Lincoln senior opened his round with a 4 on the par-4 first hole before recording a bogey on the par-4 second, but quickly recovered with a par on the par-5 third. Fleischer then made his move with a birdie on the par-4 fourth, followed by a par on the par-3 fifth and a 5 on the par-5 sixth. He found success with another birdie on the par-4 seventh, getting to one under with two holes left. Fleischer finished with back-to-back pars on holes eight and nine, securing the only under-par score among the field’s individual competitors.
Fleischer finished one stroke ahead of Chiles’ Jackson Kukla and Leon’s Liam Minton, while teammate Kale Hurd posted a 45 (+9). Lincoln’s remaining scoring golfers were Bryce Garber, who shot 54 (+18), and Sean Huggins, who finished with a 56 (+20).
Chiles’ team victory was supported by a strong showing from its top three golfers. Jackson Kukla led the Wolves with an even-par 36, tying Leon’s Liam Minton for second place individually. Rhys Cochran added a 38 (+2), while Asher Hall finished with a 39 (+3). Chiles also counted a 44 (+8) from Will Tate toward its team total.
Leon finished four strokes behind Chiles, with Minton’s even-par round leading the Lions’ individual performance. Solomon Hardy shot a 41 (+5), while Hudson Gardner and Aubrey Turner each carded a 42 (+6). Andrew Suber rounded out the team’s scoring with a 48 (+12).
Florida High placed third with a team score of 169 (+25), led by Donovan Daniell and Robbie Vos, who finished with rounds of 41 (+5) and 42 (+6), respectively. Freshmen Quinn Mask and Eli Shanks each shot 43 (+7), while Jackson Brock recorded a 44 (+8).
The event also included additional individual performances from Lincoln’s Brooks Akos and Hunter Mortham, who each finished with a 57 (+21). Chiles’ Brody Jenkins and Cole Kendall both recorded 44 (+8) and 48 (+12), respectively, while Leon’s Suber completed the Lions’ scoring lineup.
