Leon County bowlers from Tallahassee-area high schools competed Wednesday at Capital Lanes in Tallahassee, Florida, in an individual bowling tournament featuring a qualifying round followed by single-elimination bracket play. The event recognized the top individual performances among boys and girls, with the four highest-scoring bowlers in each division advancing to the championship bracket.
Boys Individual Competition
Lincoln’s Kale Hurd led the boys qualifying round with a three-game total of 715, recording games of 215, 253 and 247. His Lincoln teammate Dylan Fell finished second with 692, followed by Caleb Moore of Lincoln at 663 and Chiles’ Nathan Smith at 607. Rickards’ Jayden Peterson placed fifth with 603, while John Nance of Rickards finished sixth with 587. Chiles’ Asa Wilson totaled 585 for seventh, followed by teammate David Potampa with 583. Lincoln’s Devin Mortham placed ninth with 565, and Rickards’ Dylan Gillilan rounded out the top 10 with 539. The four highest-scoring boys advanced to one-game, single-elimination bracket play.
Nathan Smith captured the boys individual title in bracket play. Smith defeated Kale Hurd 194-145 in the opening round, while Caleb Moore advanced with a 253-167 victory over Dylan Fell. Smith then finished the tournament with a 279-190 victory over Moore to claim the championship. Moore earned runner-up honors, while Hurd and Fell also qualified for the final four.
Girls Individual Competition
Rickards’ Kaylee Jeon topped the girls qualifying standings with a three-game total of 547, recording games of 189, 186 and 172. Her Rickards teammate Grace Lee finished second with 495, while Lincoln’s Christine Lastinger placed third with 465. Lincoln’s Lexi Newton rounded out the top four with 433. Lincoln’s Jillian Smith finished fifth with 419, followed by teammate Brooklyn Rodgers with 406. Chiles’ Kendall Kessinger placed seventh with 402, while Lincoln’s Ella Webb totaled 396 for eighth. Rickards’ Bhavana Punyala finished ninth with 377, and teammate Ria Aggarwal rounded out the top 10 with 365. The four highest-scoring girls advanced to the single-elimination bracket.
Kaylee Jeon won the girls individual championship in bracket play. Jeon defeated Lexi Newton 149-98 in the opening round, while Grace Lee defeated Christine Lastinger 179-175. Jeon then secured the championship with a 133-103 victory over Lee. Jeon finished as the girls tournament champion, with Lastinger taking second place and Lee and Newton also earning recognition as semifinalists.
