On January 22, 2018, the Baker Donelson law firm announced that prominent Tallahassee attorney Stephen Dobson had joined their Government Enforcement and Investigations Group.

Mr. Dobson recently spoke on behalf of City Commissioner Scott Maddox in relation to the FBI investigation into local government activities in Tallahassee.
The law firm is led by Joe Whitley, former U.S. Attorney in the Middle and Northern Federal Districts of Georgia and former General Counsel of the United States Department of Homeland Security, the group includes more than 30 lawyers, including a former acting associate attorney general, former U.S. attorneys in multiple districts, a former FBI agent, appointed special attorneys general for several states and many former state and federal prosecutors.
Mr. Dobson has more than 20 years of experience in criminal practice, including significant cases in health care fraud, securities fraud, tax fraud, public corruption, and a variety of white collar crimes.
Before he began private practice, Mr. Dobson also served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Dobson worked for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for 15 years where he served in a variety of positions, including Special Agent, Special Agent Supervisor, and Inspector.

Experienced white collar criminal defense attorneys Stephen S. Dobson and Thomas M. Findley are joining Baker Donelson’s Tallahassee office as members of the Firm’s Government Enforcement and Investigations Group.

Mr. Dobson, who joins as a shareholder, is a former Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida. His criminal practice includes significant cases in the area of health care fraud, securities fraud, tax fraud, public corruption, and a variety of white collar crimes. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Dobson worked for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), where he served in a variety of positions, including Special Agent, Special Agent Supervisor, and Inspector. A graduate of the Florida State University College of Law, he has been recognized as a leading attorney by The Best Lawyers in America® and Florida Super Lawyers, and has been named among “Florida’s Legal Elite” by Florida Trend magazine. Mr. Dobson was previously managing partner with the firm of Dobson, Davis & Smith.
Mr. Findley, also joining as shareholder, served as Assistant United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida. He also served as a law clerk for the Honorable Joseph Hatchett on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. His practice consists of white collar criminal defense, health care fraud, complex commercial and tort litigation, civil RICO litigation, antitrust, False Claims Act, state and local taxation, and employment law. He has been active in the American Bar Association Criminal Justice Section, the criminal tax and appellate law sections of The Florida Bar, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and is a past president of the Tallahassee chapter of the Federal Bar Association (FBA).
