The Maclay Marauders (2-6) brought in a 24-6 win over the St. Francis Catholic Wolves (2-6) of Gainesville, FL in front of many Maclay alumni for the 2015 Homecoming game. Though both teams lacked strength in numbers, the Marauders were able to come out with the victory over the Wolves.
Defense played a major role in the Marauder victory. Eighth grade linebacker, AJ Miller, totaled 12 tackles by the end of the game. Junior lineman, Zach Jones, brought in 11 tackles for the Marauders.
“Our defense has continued to play aggressive and swarm to the ball,” said sophomore running back, Taylor Smith. The Wolves were able to bring in a total of 25 tackles, six of which came from junior outside linebacker, Rodney Robinson.
Two Marauders stood out offensively for Maclay last night. Taylor Smith totaled 150 yards on 15 carries with one touchdown. Freshman quarterback, Jack Brady, totaled 110 yards and one touchdown.
“Our offense is starting to string drives together, which is helping us put up more points,” added Smith. Senior wide receiver, Jacob Sniffen, also scored a touchdown for the Marauders. The Wolves, on the other hand, struggled with their offense. However, senior quarterback, Hoss Marino, was able to total 93 yards rushing.
The Marauders continue their season on Oct. 30 against West Gadsden at Maclay.
