Tallahassee Bar Association Poll on Qualifications Favors Smith in Judge Race

The Tallahassee Bar Association (TBA) released the results of a poll conducted of area lawyers, asking their professional opinions regarding the qualifications of candidates for judge in the upcoming primary election.

The poll was taken of all Florida lawyers in the state’s Second Judicial Circuit which is comprised of Leon, Gadsden, Jefferson, Wakulla, Franklin and Liberty counties. The poll sought opinions concerning all candidates in the contested election for Leon County Judge, Seat 2. A total of 475 lawyers participated in the poll.

The race features Judge Layne Smith and candidate Monique Richardson. The results of the poll are below.

Legal Ability

Layne Smith -85.3%
Monique Richardson-19.7%

Judicial Temperamant

Layne Smith -84.0%
Monique Richardson-32.0%

“We believe that the views of area lawyers, regarding the ability and temperament of judicial candidates, are an important consideration in the election process,” said Richard B. Collins, President of TBA.
