The weekly COVID report, ending February 21st, shows decreases in new cases, hospitalizations, and a positivity rate remaining below 5%.
The Numbers
The Leon County 7-day average (yellow-line) of reported COVID cases moved from 102 cases on February 14th to 86 cases on February 21st, a 15.7% decrease.
The Leon County 7-day average (yellow-line) of reported COVID hospitalizations changed from 84 on February 14th to 32 reported reported on February 21st, a 61.9% decrease.
The Leon County 7-day average (yellow line) COVID positivity rate changed from 4.5% on February 14th to 4.9% on February 21st, a 8.9% increase.

If the commissioners are waiting until zero cases of Covid, they will be waiting a looong time. Covid will become endemic just like the flu or common cold viruses.

As of Monday (2/22) morning Covid hospitalizations in Leon county were at 5. That’s 5 people out of a total of 843 staffed bed capacity, or 0.59% of hospital capacity. Looks like DeSantis policy of vaccinating 65+ is starting to pay off.
