The latest jobs report shows that there were 148,951 people working in Leon County in April, which is 518 more than last month. The unemployment rate came in 4.6%, unchanged from last month. One year ago the April, 2020 unemployment rate was 8.9%. In April, 2019 the unemployment rate was 2.8%.
Due to the COVID pandemic, 2020 job comparisons are not as meaningful as comparisons to 2019 job data. Therefore, the Leon County Jobs Report, provided below, includes 2019 data.
The number of people working in April 2021 was 148,951. This is 1,784 less than those working in April 2019, but is approximately 18,500 more than in April 2020.
The labor force – those looking for jobs – came in at 156,150, which was 1,131 greater than the number reported in April 2019.
At the state-level, 96,000 jobs were added in April when compared to March 2021. The April unemployment rate decreased to 5.1% from 5.3% reported in March.
