The latest information from the Tallahassee International Airport shows passenger traffic increased 268.3% in June when compared to traffic one year ago. The number of passengers was up from 17,223 during June 2020 to 63,430 this year.
The 268.3% increase this month is relative to June 2020 traffic when air travel was feeling the full impact of the COVID pandemic. Looking at June 2019 traffic gives a more realistic view of passenger traffic. For this reason, we have included traffic from 2019 in the Passenger Traffic Report below.
When compared to June 2019, June 2021 traffic of 63,430 was down 11.6% from 71,717 passengers one year ago.
Relative to 2019, the Passenger Traffic Report shows passenger counts were down 8.8% for American Airlines, the Delta Group was down 20.1% and Silver Airways was down 28.0%.
The graph below shows the annualized number of passengers for the last 24-months. The annual rate of passengers at TIA in June 2021 was 426,276. While this number is still low when compared to pre-pandemic numbers, it appears that the annualized number of passengers has reached the bottom and is headed back up.
The annualized number of passengers is calculated by summing the previous 12 months of traffic.
There ought to be a graph on the number of Tallahasseeans and area citizens who still go to Panama City and Jacksonville for much lower fares!
IF Amazon comes to Tallahassee what percentage of their are things we’ll be shipped in by air, truck, etc?
