The latest information from the Tallahassee International Airport shows passenger traffic increased 289.4% in July when compared to traffic one year ago. The number of passengers was up from 22,015 during July 2020 to 63,869 this year.
The 289.4% increase this month is relative to July 2020 traffic when air travel was feeling the full impact of the COVID pandemic. Looking at July 2019 traffic gives a more realistic view of passenger traffic. For this reason, we have included traffic from 2019 in the Passenger Traffic Report below.
When compared to July 2019, July 2021 traffic of 63,869 was down 10.1% from 71,065 passengers two years ago.
Relative to 2019, the Passenger Traffic Report shows passenger counts were down 4.6% for American Airlines, the Delta Group was down 23.7% and Silver Airways was down 6.6%.
The graph below shows the annualized number of passengers for the last 24-months. The annual rate of passengers at TIA in July 2021 was 468,432, up 9.9% when compared to the annual rate reported last month.
The annualized number of passengers is calculated by summing the previous 12 months of traffic.
Gues we haven’t had bad weather.
Now that the traffic is on the upswing – can the people in charge of TLH focus on connecting the airport to the rest of the city? That type of investment will dramatically enhance Tallahassee’s economy.
