Leon County Schools Purchases 28 Acres Near Chiles High School

During the December 14th meeting, the Leon County School Board (LCSB) approved the purchase of property from Pine Cone Woods, LLC for $950,000. The property is located at Thomasville Road adjacent to Chiles High School.

The 28.75-acre property gives the LCSB the flexibility for constructing future projects that potentially may serve the needs of the district in this area of the county.

Florida Statutes require the School Board to obtain three written appraisals, which were performed by Cureton Johnson & Associates, LLC, Brown Bevis Real Estate Appraisers, Inc., and Bell, Griffith & Associates, Inc. The statutes also state the purchase price may not exceed the average appraised value of the real property.

The market value price was reported as $1,240,000 by Cureton Johnson & Associates, LLC. The second appraisal by Bell, Griffith & Associates, Inc., listed the market value price as $869,000. Lastly, Brown Bevis Real Estate Appraisers, Inc., listed their estimated value at $950,000.

Superintendent Rocky Hanna said the purchase could be valuable for the district in the future. For example, the property could be used to expand Chiles High School or for a transportation facility on that side of the county, as there is none at this time.

Query: What do the following have in common: 1. Urban Service Area; 2. school location studies; 3. North Leon County; 4. New High School; 5. Property owners.

Since Rocky's step dad is a very active member in the Tall. Board of Realtors, I wonder if he brokered this deal.

Rocky may not even have any intent to go through with the purchase of this property.
Quite likely we will see a few more hair-brained wacko schemes from LCSB in the near future.
    Why?
Well now its a typical leftist tactic to deflect the public's attention when a leftist politician steps in a fresh pile of smelly brown at the same time their favorite fetish-pervision is on public display.
    What's that?
Well as you recall LCSB and the employees of the schools LCSB is charged with the task of oversight upon got busted with their panties down trying to convert your boys and girls into the LGBTQ way of life. A lot of you voters that vote liberal got a little whizzed off about the official attempt of LCSB to turn their little ones onto the LGBTQ way of life.
Rocky did not expect you liberal voters would have a problem with pushing your kids onto the LGBTQ way of life.
Anyway expect more crazy stuff in the near future from LCSB to take your eye off that whole turn Junior LGBTQ thing.
Thats what leftists do when they realize they have stepped in a fresh pile of smelly brown.
Rocky and his stooges knew all about it from day one and in your leftist voting hearts you all know that.

@ Suzanne Young, the money could be better spent getting more than half of the students reading and ciphering at a satisfactory level. In case you may have attended a Leon County school, that number currently sits at 49% which is less than half the student population. Trump has nothing to do with any of it, so try to focus Suzanne...

@ Suzanne Young, I don't know what Trump has to do with any of this... Only 49% percent of the students in Leon County schools can read at a satisfactory level, and that is by their own measure. And just in case you attended a Leon county school, 49% < half the student population.

So yeah, I think the opportunities to have better allocated this money are endless. Starting with teaching everyone to read well. Less than half ain't cuttin' it.

The school board shouldn't be in the real estate speculation business...so forget about Trump and try to focus, Suzy.

Sounds like commentors are trump and self promoting Republicans and Mr. Hannah would be denigrated for whatever decision he made. I don't think these comments have anything to do with whether the money could have been better spent elsewhere in the system.

So folks, it goes like this: Trump wants to take out a Loan to buy a Property that is priced at $900,000 so he hires Cureton Johnson & Associates appraise it for the Bank Loan. Trump does his Taxes and Hires Bell, Griffith & Associates to appraise it for the IRS and now he is able to claim a Loss for his Taxes. You see folks, this is all legal and many politicians do it including Trump. Learn the Players like they have and YOU TOO can do it.

Quite likely the most important aspect of this pending land transaction has been accidentally overlooked.
    Here you go:
    1).Who owns the land.
2). How will political benefits be transferred to Rocky to show the gratitude of the owner for Rocky arranging the inflated purchase price and the resulting financial windfall to the owner?
3). Perhaps Rocky has already benefited from some butt scratching favor from the owner and this inflated price is Rocky's "I'll scratch your butt" part of the corrupt equation.

    You are welcome!

No specific immediate need and vague future need. Perhaps, they are trying to exchange dollars (which the Biden regime and the RINOs are devaluing at a rapid rate) for real assets.

More wasteful spending. I wonder what almost a million dollars could do to actual help children. Oh yeah, we have property tax payers funding that too.

Hope made a good point…vote them out. Nothing has changed over the past 12 years. County Commissioners have no plans to address Homelessness, Crime, Poverty, or Reducing Taxes. Like President Trump said, about voting them out,…what in the Hell do you have to lose?

Hmm... no Southside purchase for school expansions?

People on the South Side may want to consider voting out the status quo in the future as they are getting no representation from their elected officials.

LCSB already owns ~20 acres down Proctor road. Seems a waste of funds.

$34K per acre of wasteland spent on a maybe, sort of, perhaps, kind of, potentially, could be, I don't know....

... gotta love that corrupt and dangerous Public Indoctrination System
