There were a total of six candidates running for two seats on the Leon County School Board in two districts that span the Northeast part of Leon County.
After Tuesday’s results, there are now two candidates vying for one seat.
Incumbent Alva Striplin was able to avoid a runoff and won the primary with 53.5% of the District 1 vote. She defeated Anthon DeMarco (24.4%) and Marianne Arbulu (22.1%).
In the District 4 election, neither one of the tree candidates could secure a majority of the vote. Moving on to the general election are Alex Stemle (`46.4%) and Laurie Lawson Cox (42.0%).
Susan Hodges finished third with 11.58% of the vote.
In a comment to TR, Cox said, “I am excited to continue to get my message out and meet more people in District 4.”
Alex Stemle stated, “Today, I am full of emotions and gratitude for the opportunity to move onto November and to be your voice on Pensacola street. God has a plan!”

Louis AKA Louise,
*Going from Republican to an NPA is not center right. It is center left.
**Stemle ran for this seat previously and lost.
*** Stemle’s wife is a teacher in the Leon County School System so is that a conflict?
**** Still failing to answer the question… why he would attempt to go from an assistant principal to the school board.
The candidate has some work to do in answering these questions or continue to be disingenuous and not transparent.
In the three-way race for School Board District 4, Alex Stemle, a former longtime Republican who switched to no party affiliation in 2020, came out on top with more than 46% of the vote.
Hope we will be praying for you as God has a plan for you as well.
Only one candidate has flipped then flopped. TR should make sure the facts are shared accurately on the post they approve. Stemle has consistently been center right! Questions for Cox loom….
-Election Handoff? 100% needs to be investigated (Cox running on transparency)
-Party Flips consistent w Superintendent Races? (Rubber stamp behavior)
-American Federation of Children PAC $ for Cox (why run for office if you take support from organizations who want to dismantle community schools)
-Refusal to talk about her position on LBGTQ guide on Stewart Show “I don’t want to talk about it Steve” (investigative reporting or inside support)
-Married to Assistant Superintendent of School Management (when Rocky decides to go after another District 4 principal for political gain- she will have to abstain as her husband will be involved in all the decisions)
Again the TRUTH:
-Laurie Lawson Cox, Registered Aug. 1, 1990, as a Democrat; switched to Republican on Jan. 26, 1996; changed back to Democrat on April 10, 2008; switched back to Republican on July 22, 2008.
-Alex Stemle, Registered March 20, 2001, as a Republican; switched to no party affiliation on Feb. 3, 2020.
Tallahassee Reports has some work to do…..

In that case, Happy Fall!

“God’s plan for you is to prosper and grow spiritually in Christ in the very situation you are in right now.” To be humble not self-serving…
Best of luck to you and hope life treats you the way you deserve.
No Hope For Facts,
You are correct, I am “bored” with you refusing to answer a legitimate question which voters deserve an answer.
* Cox has had a stable registration for 14 years.
** Stemle went from a Democrat to an NPA two years ago.
*** Stemle has not answered the question why he would go from assistant principal to a school board member. This is an easy question and the fact that he won’t answer it causes concern.
Not answering the question leads to speculation. Either he wants to not be honest and not give a valid reason and there is a reason that he does not want voters to know. Voters pay taxes which are given to elected officials, so, we are interviewing these candidates and if they can’t answer questions that raises a red flag.
Sincerely,
Hope… to get an answer soon.
Hope:
Matthew 7
[1]Judge not, that ye be not judged.
[2] For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
Here we go again w HOPE the cox team trashing Stemle w fake news….

Hope it is time to get on board- our kids deserve the best!
@ Fred…
– Stemle is not a moderate conservative (he is a party/non-party jumper).
– Refuses to answer the question why he would go from assistant principal to a school board member. This is an easy question and the fact that he won’t answer it causes a critical concern.
– I agree that his God reference/ inference was referring to himself which shows a self-importance only for himself.
@ Deep Six all he said was ““Today, I am full of emotions and gratitude for the opportunity to move onto November and to be your voice on Pensacola street. God has a plan!”” ….. I see nothing wrong with this Statement and this is the only time God was mentioned. God has MANY Plans for everyone. I actually like this statement because it gives me hope that HE might actually TRY to put God and Prayer BACK in the Schools because it sure is needed there.
Stemle is the strongest voice we have to choose from in November. Having a strong moderate conservative, who has the experience and knowledge to do the job, will be refreshing. He is the only candidate that has the qualifications and experience for this job. Hands down!
@ Deep Six… Agreed. God does have a plan for everyone. If I were the reporter, I would have followed-up with Stemle on his comment with a question… “What is your plan to protect our children by bringing God back into the classroom, and removing the groomers and pedos?”
… now THAT… is an answer I’d love to read/hear from these candidates.
Does that mean God didn’t like the other candidates? Alex thinks he’s god’s choice. He’s got a plan for everyone, Stemle. Not just you.
