The latest information from the Tallahassee International Airport shows that August 2022 passenger traffic was 65,662. August traffic increased 11.3% when compared to traffic one year ago. The number of passengers was up 6,683 from the 58,979 reported during August 2021.
However, traffic was down 7.4% or 5,275 passengers when compared to the pre-COVID passenger traffic (70,937) reported in August 2019.
Comparing current passenger traffic numbers to August2019 traffic gives a more realistic view of traffic growth given the impact of the COVID pandemic. For this reason, we have included traffic from 2019 in the Passenger Traffic Report below.
Relative to 2019, the Passenger Traffic Report shows passenger counts were down 4.0% for American Airlines, the Delta Group was down 9.`9% and Silver Airways was down 19.5%.
The graph below shows the annualized number of passengers for the last 37-months. The highlighted numbers on the graph indicate the annual traffic during the month of March over the last four years.
The annual rate of passengers at TIA in August 2022 was 815,379 up 0.85% when compared to the annual rate reported last month and up 62.0% when compared to one year ago. The annualized number of passengers is calculated by summing the previous 12 months of traffic.
Much can be attributed to Biden’s inflation and failure to drive the economy, but there has to be some responsibility at the local level, also. This falls on the watch of the Mayor and City Manager.
