The St. John Paul II Panthers (12- 14) defeated North Florida Christian (7-18) in three sets (25-16, 25-17, 25 -16) in the 2A District 1A final hosted by JPII. The win gives JPII three straight district titles.
“It feels good to win decisively,” JPII head coach Emily Serpico said. “The girls really wanted it and played hard. “We’ve had talks all week about how to respond if things don’t go our way. We were trying to be men- tally prepared and I’m really proud of them.”
JPII will be on the road to face Oak Hall in the Regional Quarter final of the class 2A FHSAA Girls Volleyball State Championships.
Lincoln, Florida High Came Up Short in District Finals
The Lincoln High Trojans came up short in the 5A District 2 final against Vanguard, losing in three sets (25-14, 25-21, 25-18). Despite the loss, the Trojans (17- 8), who had a strong regular season, will host Seabreeze in the Regional Quarter final of the class 5A FHSAA Girls Volleyball State Championships on Wednesday.
The Florida High Seminoles (13-11) lost the 3A District 1 final to Pensacola Catholic in a five-set thriller (25-18, 13-25,14-25, 25-13, 15-13). The Seminoles led the match 2-1 but lost the deciding 5th set 15- 13. The Seminoles will not have to wait long to get another shot at Pensacola Catholic. On Tuesday, the Seminoles will travel to Pensacola for a rematch in the Regional Quarter final of the class 5A FHSAA Girls Volleyball State Championships.
