LOCAL NEWS

Tallahassee Mayor John Dailey has signed on with eight other Florida mayors to support the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network’s (GLSEN) “Rise Up for LGBTQ+ Youth” campaign. One of the features of the campaign is a recommendation from a GLSEN guide to public school teachers and staff to not share a student’s struggle with gender dysphoria to parents. “If a student is not yet out to their parent(s)/guardian(s), using their prior name in correspondence may be the desirable course of action, although they use a different name amongst peers and educators in school.”

Florida State Rep. Jason Shoaf, who represents much of the Big Bend including rural portions of south Leon County, is touting legislative victories for Florida’s rural areas. He championed rural broadband expansion that totaled approximately $100 million statewide as well as water quality projects in Apalachicola Bay and Franklin County. Shoaf also noted North Florida’s struggle to keep up with technical college appeal with nearby Alabama and Georgia tech schools.

FLORIDA NEWS

Florida Sen. Rick Scott called the recent departure of Farmers Insurance from Florida as a “wake-up call” and a “disaster.” Scott said that when a company spends years building up a clientele of customers just to walk away from the state is a bad sign for the state. Scott encouraged state officials to sit down with the companies to discuss the issues they’re facing to ensure Floridians are covered.

A federal appeals court will take on a legal battle over Florida’s gun law prohibiting 18-20 year olds from purchasing long guns. The law was passed as part of Republican-backed gun control legislation in the wake of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting tragedy in Parkland, FL. The NRA filed a lawsuit after the 2018 law passed but Chief U.S. District Judge Mark Walker in 2021 rejected the challenge. No date has been set, yet, for arguments.

SPORTS NEWS

Florida State will be represented at the 2023 ACC Kickoff media event by head coach Mike Norvell, quarterback Jordan Travis, defensive end Jared Verse and linebacker Kalen DeLoach. This year’s ACC Kickoff expands to three days and will be held July 25-27 in Charlotte.Arena League Football is coming back to Tallahassee. After the Tallahassee Titans, a member of the American Indoor Football Association, closed its doors in 2007, Tallahassee has been without a small-scale professional football team. However, it was announced yesterday Tallahassee is one of the 16 sites to have an AFL starting in 2024.

  1. @Little Flower – Regarding “According to news reports, they are detransitioners who have filed lawsuits against their medical communities for their part in foisting “gender affirming care” upon them as minors. These lawsuits have gained international attention. There is also a lawsuit in Canada and a lawsuit in Australia against the person’s psychiatrist.”

I’ve seen an excellent meme that goes, “If genitals don’t define gender, how does removing them affirm it?” (Wish I could post it here… )

  2. Endorsing the misleading of parents about their children’s behavior disqualifies John Dailey from public service. He should resign immediately.

Knowingly lying to parents concerning the welfare of their children is a very dangerous thing to do and certainly not of any “service to the public”.

  3. Local GOP party goons endorsed Dailey… now he’s raising our taxes. Money rino uniparty lobbyist crew sticks together

  4. Kayla Lovdahl – age 18 from California
Chloe Cole – age 18 from California
Prisha Mosley – age 25 from North Carolina

According to news reports, they are detransitioners who have filed lawsuits against their medical communities for their part in foisting “gender affirming care” upon them as minors. These lawsuits have gained international attention. There is also a lawsuit in Canada and a lawsuit in Australia against the person’s psychiatrist.

Tallahassee officials should have nothing to do with inviting this evil into our city.

  5. I’m kinda OK with the 18-20 prohibition on owning guns. It’s a first step to saying, “if you’re not old enough to enjoy your constitutionally guaranteed rights at 18, you’re not old enough to vote, either”.

The John Dailey endorsement is a problem. And the timing I find to be “excellent”. Steve Gruber had an 8 second video clip this morning of Biden whispering to a young girl how sexy she is and don’t tell your mom. Then the clip ends as he realizes he’s being recorded.

    Groomers all…..

  6. Mayor DAILEY runs his campaign 24/7 and focuses on every cockamamie Democratic Party wokeism ideology nonsense… yet sewage spills, high crime rate, eye sore developments, special interests in lieu of kickbacks define Tallahassee, but groom those children! Then he rewards himself for all his perceived self-importance at the Buffalo Pool Party at taxpayers expense.

  7. I will NEVER support John Dailey, If you are willing to hide the struggles a CHILD is having with gender issues from their Parents, what ELSE are you willing to hide from their Parents?

Sen. Rick Scott, it is also a Bad Sign about that Company.
