Gasoline prices in Florida were flat over the past week, as large numbers of travelers prepare to hit the road for Memorial Day. The average price of a gallon of regular unleaded in Florida was $3.44 on Monday, the same as a week earlier, according to the AAA auto club.
Nationally, the average price dropped 3 cents a gallon to $3.59. Last week, AAA estimated 2.5 million Floridians will travel more than 50 miles during the holiday period, a 5 percent increase from the same time in 2023. Orlando, Miami and Fort Lauderdale are among the top anticipated U.S. destinations for the weekend, according to AAA.
Parts of Northwest Florida continued Monday to have the state’s lowest average gas prices, including $3.19 a gallon in the Crestview-Fort Walton Beach area, according to AAA. The West Palm Beach-Boca Raton area, by contrast, was at $3.65 a gallon. The statewide average was down 15 cents from a month ago but was 2 cents higher than a year ago.
