This does not happen every political cycle.
On June 7, Tallahassee City Commissioner Jeremy Matlow announced he was creating a new political committee to support the campaigns of current City Commissioner Jack Porter and Dot Inman-Johnson, a challenger to current City Commissioner Curtis Richardson.
In a social media post, Matlow wrote, in “response to the toxic, political negativity launched at people-powered candidates the last two cycles, I’m launching a new political committee.”
The political committee is called “One Tallahassee.”
Over the weekend, in a fundraising post, Matlow stated, “We are (on) the cusp of realizing the vision we set out over six years ago— Building a better city led by everyday working people.”
Matlow has been clear in his goal to achieve a majority on the city commission so he can promote a progressive agenda, which includes replacing the current Tallahassee city manager, Reese Goad.
Matlow has previously posted about his support for City Commissioner Jack Porter and Dot Inman-Johnson. Inman-Johnson has described herself as a “solid, progressive liberal” and has suggested she would align herself with Matlow and Porter.
This a developing story, check back for updates.
