Single Family Construction Permits Trending Down, Permit Value Up

According to filings with Leon County and the City of Tallahassee, the number of single-family new construction permits was down 22.4% in May, 2024 when compared to May, 2023.

There were 66 permits issued in May, 2024, down up from the 85 issued one year ago. However, the value of the May, 2024 permits was $16.1 million, up 8.8%, from the $14.8 million reported in May, 2023.

There were 45 permits issued in April, 2024.

The 3-Mnth Avg. data – which smooths out the month to month volatility – shows a 26.1% decrease in the number of permits from one year ago. The 3-Mnth Avg. data show a 6.8% increase in total permit value, from $13.2 million in May, 2023 to $14.1 million in May, 2024.

  1. Better places in Florida to live cheaper. The City is proposing a $444.00 fee to all the residents of Killearn Lakes to pay for sewage service. Residents are upset that they paid $10,000.00 for service and now this. This is what liberal rule government looks like.
