TR Reporting Confirmed: Commissioner Porter Travel Funded by Left-Wing Group, Questions Remain

A report by the Tallahassee Democrat related to Commissioner Jack Porter’s travel has confirmed that a progressive group – Local Progress – funded Porter’s travel expense to attend several conferences.

Ron Meyer, Porter’s attorney, stated in a March 6 letter that Local Progress did pay Porter’s expenses.

On it’s website, Local Progress says the group promotes “abroad intersectional progressive agenda.”

Porter has repeatedly refused to answer questions submitted by TR about who paid for the travel. However, an ethics complaint filed with the Florida Commission on Ethics, related to her failure to disclose the funded trips, prompted the Tallahassee Democrat to question Porter.

However, unanswered questions remain.

The report indicated that the city attorney advised Porter that disclosure was not required if the city paid her expenses up front and Local Progress reimbursed the city.

The Tallahassee Democrat indicated the it is not “immediately clear” if Porter followed the appropriate disclosure rules.

TR has submitted questions to the city of Tallahassee related to this issue.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.

  1. Just in:
“Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Friday signed into law a measure prohibiting ethics investigations from being launched until they are prompted by a complaint from someone with personal knowledge of the alleged wrongdoing.”

“Anything short of personal knowledge would be considered hearsay. As a result, state and local ethics commissioners would be barred from investigating alleged violations.”

“Personal knowledge makes it sound like you have to have been there when the ethics violation occurred, seeing it with your own two eyes,” said Jacksonville City Council member Matt Carlucci. Generally, people who violate ethics don’t exactly invite friends or members of the public to attend their bad behavior,” he added.”

  2. Wasn’t it our own little AOC MiniMe who voted against Amazon and the 1000+ jobs they brought? I wonder if the Pro-Hamas Progressive knows what a garbage disposal is.

Corrupt is as corrupt does. And yet, she accuses others of malfeasance. Project much, sweetie?

Like I always say; No matter how you arrange the letters D E M O C R A T… it will always spell HYPOCRITE.

  3. always mind the spirit of Erwin Jackson snidely. DEI kommisars are building shrines to John Marks now. the same old Maddox accomplices are all still fully on the scene and government money is awash in the same Chambercrat coffers.

  4. People lets focus:
Its not your time to bring up Scott Maddox or Andrew Gillum & Cassandra Jackson’s past crimes against the Good Citizens of Tallahassee. They have nothing to do with TODAYS situation.
It is June 21, 2024 and things are quite different.
    Everyyhing is different.
Ron DeSantis has been suspending and appointing new local officials All Over Florida. And we have no reason whatsoever to assume DeSantis will not remove Porter from office for malfeasence and replace her with an honest public servant.

  5. David, Andrew Gillum did the same thing while on the City Commission. He was getting pad a salary by People for the American way which is a 501(3)(c) corporation and this is illegal. As an ‘add on’ I believe Cassandra Jackson was the City Attorney who said she was OK with her ‘trips’. She’s the same ‘left’ as Porter

  6. Since “Local Progress” paid for her Trips, if she starts pushing their Agendas on the Commission, wouldn’t that be considered a Bribe?

  7. Yawn. Better for this membership based group to pay for travel than the property tax payers getting soaked for another Amelia island Chamber junket again

  8. Did they ever find that missing million+ Scott Maddox’s city manager lost? should be a complaint about the lack of transparency there
