The Children’s Services Council of Leon County (CSC Leon) recently announced the election of Mr. Darryl E. Jones, a member of the Leon County School Board, District 3, as the new Chair of its Governing Council.
The press released stated that” Jones, a dedicated community leader with a strong commitment to the well-being of children and families, brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and a deep passion for service to this pivotal role.”
“I am deeply honored to be chosen by my esteemed peers as the next Chair of the CSC Leon Governing Council,” Jones said. “This body has established a strong foundation to meet the needs of our children and families, and I look forward to continuing this important work. I am excited to collaborate with Mrs. Cecka Green and her team, my colleagues on the Council, and our resources partners to create a brighter future for all children in Leon County.”
Jones was elected to the Leon County School Board (District 3) in 2018, served as chair in 2021, and was re-elected in 2022. He joined the CSC Leon Governing Council in 2021, representing the school board, and served as the chair of the Program Services Committee.
Currently, Jones is the Deputy Director for Minority, Women, and Small Business Enterprise Programs in the Office of Economic Vitality, where he manages supplier diversity activities for the City of Tallahassee, Leon County Government, and the Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency.
Jones is actively involved in various community organizations. He serves as chair of the Board of Stewards of the Bethel AME Church, the Board of Trustees at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, and the boards of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra and the Southside Tallahassee Rotary. His contributions have earned him numerous accolades, including the Tallahassee Democrat Volunteer of the Year Award, the City of Tallahassee’s Reginald Rolle Economic Development Champion of the Year Award, and the Bishop’s Award for Community Development from the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Jones is a graduate of Florida A&M University and has resided in Leon County since attending college.
“Mr. Jones’s work in our community spans the depth and breadth of Leon County,” said Cecka Rose Green, CSC Leon Executive Director. “His vision, experience, and unwavering commitment to our mission makes his ascension to this leadership position ideal as we work toward our goal of ensuring every child in Leon County has the opportunity to thrive and achieve greatness.”
Mr. Jones assumed this position unanimously during the last council meeting held on June 18.

Heavily biased as well against conservative. As a teacher who had to sit and listen to him during a sponsored breakfast at my public school, I found his public rhetoric against DeSantis and conservative viewpoints to be quite uncomfortable and unsettling. This was during our planning time at the beginning of 2023-24. Now he sits as the chair of this board too? This county needs to start embracing repentance and humbleness.
why would someone with no children be on the School board, much less the children’s services council property tax board. he is a Blueprint bureaucrat grabbing even more control of tax dollars…
