Inclusion Cafe Academy Celebrates First-Ever Graduation

Inclusion Cafe Academy recently announced the graduation of its inaugural class, noting the event was a “significant milestone in our mission to empower individuals with intellectual disabilities through comprehensive job skills training.”

The unique training academy, which focuses on equipping students with the necessary skills to excel in the restaurant industry, held the graduation ceremony on July 17, 2024, at The Salvation Army located at 2410 Allen Rd in Tallahassee.

The Inclusion Cafe Academy was established with the vision of providing intellectually disabled individuals with practical, hands-on training to help them secure meaningful employment. Over the course of the program, students learn essential job skills, including customer service, food preparation, hygiene practices, food safety, plate presentation, and teamwork. The curriculum is designed to ensure that graduates are not only job-ready but also confident and prepared to integrate into the workforce.

The final two weeks of training has focused on searching for jobs, filling out applications, dressing for success, interview skills, and financial literacy.

“We are incredibly proud of our graduates and all they have accomplished,” said Bill Schack, Founder and President of Inclusion Cafe, who also is the Lead Trainer at the Academy. “This graduation marks the beginning of new opportunities for them, and we are excited to see the positive impact they will make in the workforce and their community.”

In a press release, the Inclusion Cafe Academy extended “its deepest gratitude to all supporters, sponsors, and community members who have made this achievement possible. Your commitment to inclusivity and empowerment has been invaluable in helping us create a brighter future for our graduates.”
