The number of abortions reported in Florida during the first eight months of this year was nearly 13 percent lower than during the same period in 2022 and 2023, as a law preventing abortions after six weeks of pregnancy has led to fewer procedures.
Florida could face a water shortage by 2025 due to rapid population growth and strained resources, according to a report published on Thursday by Florida TaxWatch. The report warns of an “inferred water supply shortage” as early as next year, with the situation expected to worsen without immediate action.

Here we go again with another typical news media “scare story.” Now, we’re going to experience a drinking water shortage by next year and all of us, our children and Grandchildren are going to die. This is similar to past stories like when the year 2000 came along and all bank records would be lost and the power grid would shut down. Or, how Southern Florida by now was suppose to be partially under water due to global warming. Or, Social Security being out of money about 10 or 20 years ago if I recall correctly. Can anyone name one of these “doom & gloom” horror news stories that has come even close to actually happening?
Our main water source is the Floridan Aquifer. Approximately 280-billion gallons flow through the FA each and every day. As a state, we currently utilize approximately 13-billion gallons per-day. There is plenty of water to accommodate reasonable growth.
Resource availability is not the problem, inadequate infrastructure and poor resource management is the problem.
I don’t think lack of water is the problem in Florida. Now the availability of city drinking water may become an issue in new developments especially ones with irrigated lawns and golf courses. In places like central Florida where agricultural land is being turned into subdivisions like the Villages are residential homes using more water than agricultural uses?
I saw the rendition of the Bridge they are wanting to build. WAY to expensive and well over Designed. Go look at the one over Conner BLVD and the one over Ocala. That is all you need, they can be dressed up with Paint and FSU can hang Banners on it.
There are several ways to turn Salt Water into Drinking Water. Reverse Osmosis and Desalination are just two ways. You can put Plants along the Coast Lines.
