The City Commission recently voted unanimously to approve the $300,000 purchase of the Tish Byrd House and Community Gardens property located on W. Georgia Street between N. Macomb Street and N. MLK Jr. Boulevard.

On Saturday, Jan. 4th, the top two boys high school basketball teams in Leon County faced off as Florida High hosted Godby in a non-district matchup. Florida High was looking for their 11th win of the season while Godby was hoping for an upset after winning the Holiday Hoopfest tournament held in Thomasville over the Christmas holidays. With just two weeks left in his presidency, Joe Biden will prohibit future oil and gas drilling off the entire East and West coasts, the eastern Gulf of Mexico and the remaining portions of Alaska’s Northern Bering Sea.

After an investigative agency sided with the company, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody’s office will urge an administrative law judge to find that Starbucks has improperly used race-based hiring practices.

NATIONAL NEWS

At least 60 million people across dozens of states were under winter weather alerts over the weekend as a massive winter storm swept across the US from the Rockies to the East Coast. The system arrived in the Midwest late Saturday, dropping up to a foot of snow in many locations. Some parts of eastern Kansas reported as much as 18 inches; see an updated map of totals here.

The first congestion pricing plan in the US went into effect yesterday, with drivers heading into a large swath of Manhattan paying a $9 fee during peak hours. The program, meant to reduce notoriously gridlocked traffic and encourage the use of public transit, is the culmination of an effort first proposed by then-Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R) in 2007.

  1. OK Climate People, massive winter storms happen all the time during the Winter Months, you should only worry if they happen in the Summer Months.
