On Nov. 17, Rickards (13-8) boys basketball played a home, non-conference game against Lincoln (12-7). Both teams had similar records and were coming off win streaks trying to gain momentum heading into the post-season.
Although the first half was low scoring due to physical defense by both teams, Rickards got off to a good start by dominating the boards and getting multiple points off of rebounds. Lincoln guard Eric Turral (So.) knocked down a much needed 3 at the end of the first half, cutting Rickards lead to 9, 25-16.
Offenses from both teams improved in the third quarter with the Raiders still leading 47-25 going into the 4th. Rickards enforced a full court press during most of the second half that troubled the Lincoln offense and helped the Raiders secure a 61-48 win over the Trojans.
Notable performances from Rickards include Romie Cosby (Sr.) with 14 points, Calvin Thomas (Jr.) with 12 points and Benjamin Plummer (Sr.) with 11 points. Lincoln’s Malakhi Lowe led the team with 10 points.
