On Tuesday, March 4, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a hybrid public meeting concerning the project on S.R. 61 (Thomasville Road) in Midtown from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Get the details.

On February 25, 2025, the Leon County Commission hosted a workshop where they heard presentations on the Southside Action Plan and the fairgrounds project. After discussion of those projects, Commissioner Christian Caban asked that additional attention to be devoted to the Pensacola St. corridor revitalization efforts—an area Commissioner Bill Proctor called an “outdoor insane asylum.”

At a recent Leon County Commission meeting, the commission approved the awarding of a contract to NGA911 to implement the Next Generation 9-1-1 system. The total cost of this software comes out to just under $2 million.

With school districts across the state expressing support, Florida senators Monday started moving forward with a bill that would repeal requirements aimed at later daily start times in many high schools.

The Florida House Democratic Caucus on Monday introduced the “Putting Floridians First Agenda,” a series of legislative proposals for the 2025 session presenting a policy agenda aimed at expanding access to healthcare, enhanced labor protections, and implementing stricter firearm regulations.

Broad 25% tariffs on all imports from America’s two largest trading partners, Mexico and Canada, go into effect today, according to President Donald Trump’s latest comments. The tariffs were delayed for a month to facilitate talks with Mexico and Canada on addressing drug trafficking and migration at the US border.

Senate confirms Linda McMahon to lead Education Department by a vote of 51-45; the former WWE executive previously headed the Small Business Administration during President Donald Trump’s first term (More). 

All three major US indexes slid yesterday (S&P 500 -1.8%, Dow -1.5%, Nasdaq -2.6%), with the S&P 500 posting its biggest loss since December. Nasdaq’s slump was led by Nvidia, which fell nearly 9%.
