On Mar. 28, the Maclay boys lacrosse team (8-6) took on South Walton (12-4) at home for their first and only meeting of the regular season. Missing key players due to injury, the Marauders hung in until the second half where the Seahawks pulled away from striking distance, winning the game with a final score of 11-5.
Both teams were scoreless in the first quarter with Maclay goalie Seann VanTassel (Fr.) making a handful of clutch saves keeping the Marauders in a good position for the second quarter. Maclay broke the ice with midfielder Ben Gregory (Fr.) scoring the first goal of the game to go up 1-0. South Walton responded with a 4-0 run to close the half with a 4-1 lead.
Trying to mount a comeback, Maclay midfielder Evan Ho (Fr.) found the back of the net shortly after the start of the second half with a heads-up play on crease. For the rest of the second half South Walton’s offense was too much for the Maclay defense to handle, scoring 7 goals and only allowing 3, defeating the Marauders 11-5.
